The Fashion World Banning Size Zero Models?

Friday night I volunteered at the Fashion Dance For Life show, I pretty much just hung out back stage and did anything from dressing the beautiful models, to pinning a broken dress, to making sure the right model had the right shoe on- it was a blast! Overall it was a great show, everyone did a wonderful job and I loved helping out at the event. After being surrounded by thin models all night I came across this article this morning that Elle had put out about how the runways changing their size zero models to size two may actually cause America to get more obese?!? The article was super interesting, let me know what you guys think...

Keeping My Fingers Crossed for Sunshine

Since I was out of town last weekend today is the first day that I have been in the store in almost 2 weeks- Eeek! We all know what that means.. LOTS of new summer clothes to drool over and add to my "must have" list (if only we could actually start wearing our summer clothes in Minnesota). I am trying to be optimistic about the weather and hoping that tomorrow is beautiful and sunny.. therefore I feel obligated to buy a nice dress for Easter- yes I am still a little kid when it comes to holidays. After rummaging throughout the store for the past hour I have selected two possible outfits for tomorrow....

An Ariella floral printed top and an Esley belted skirt

Or a cute ruffled Ya dress????

And well some gold and turquoise bangles just for kicks.

Ultimate Spring Jacket: The White Trench

Yes, of course the classic trench coat is always in style, how could it not be with it's timeless fit? But the fashion world is going all out this Spring and filling it's runways with the ever-so-daring WHITE trench coat. Rocking a white trench coat will help you to stand out from all the other fashionistas who are strutting their stuff in bold colors, prints, and floral patterned apparel. Plus side? White goes with anything, it's sophisticated, and will look fabulous against your sun-kissed skin this summer!

Oh So Nautical

Another great piece from Hazel has arrived and it is quite nautical to say the least. Although the main focus on this top was a nautical feel, Hazel definitely kept up their "romantic" touch to this fitted jacket by adding a bit of girly embroidery to outline the jacket.

Season after season we see nautical apparel pop up for the warmer weather-the stripes, whether red or navy, are always so defined and crisp. It is a classic look that helps to bring a bit of elegance to each outfit. Although...for us Minnesotan's, since our warm weather season is a bit too short, you can always pair your nautical pieces with your fall and winter apparel like this fashionista did!

A Style Icon Knows...

Here is a list of Nina Garcia's 10 definite style basics
  • How To Edit- She only buys what she likes and what looks good on her.
  • To Invest In "The Bones"- (the classic trench, the little black dress..) and builds from there.
  • To Buy With Drama- She goes for that over-the-top, decadent item. If she falls in love, she takes it home.
  • The Utmost Importance Of Shoes- Lots of shoes.
                                                                      Source
  • And The Power Of Accessories- Done just the right way.
  • A Good Tailor
  • How Not To Be The Fashion Victim- She never buys into the trends and she never carries the "it" bag.
  • It Is Not About The Money- She wears her flea market Mexican earrings the same way she would wear her diamonds.
  • How To Mix It Up
  • How to Be Imperfect- She understands that every day is not a photo shoot.

Keeping It Casual

Hope you are all having a wonderful and relaxing Saturday! This is one of our current window displays and I think it is the perfect example of what a "casual" Saturday outfit should look like. It is simple, comfy and the ideal outfit for laying around in or running errands.

Stretching That Hemline

"I have spent a good many seasons watching fashion trends come and go, style myths created and dismantled, hemlines rise and fall. The one solid piece of advice I have to offer is: don't take it all too seriously." ~Nina Garcia

With that being said, why not go out of your comfort zone and try something new this spring?? Slowly but surely we have been seeing the longer hemline creep back into style. It is defining romance all over again and allowing women to get in touch with their inner femininity. Right now we have an adorable Free People maxi skirt in at Elodie, although it has a feminine structure, the print has a little bit of a boho-chic feel to it. These skirts are easy to keep casual and just pair with a baggy t-shirt or tank or you can dress them up with a pair of wedges and a fitted jacket. So I am encouraging all you fashionistas to be bold this season and get yourself a great maxi skirt for spring, after all, fashion truly is about taking chances and having fun!

Here is one of my favorite trend setters sporting a floral printed maxi skirt, looking stylish as ever.
